It was our fourth year catering for the VIP tent and the Press Tent. Working with Your Bash and FOX we were able to throw one of the coolest extravaganzas, they just keep getting better every year! Check out some pictures taken by Your Bash of the spectacular event.

On such a hot day who wouldn’t want to hang out in the VIP tent, designed by Your Bash.

Wine Tasting Retirement Party!

June 16, 2012 No comments yet

With good people and delicious appetizers to accompany 6 different and very tasteful wines the retirement party for Kevin and Karin’s mother went without a hitch. Taking place at Kevin’s beautiful house in Oak Park California, you could not have asked for more perfect weather. With summer here it’s now the perfect time to have your own wine tasting party. Here is the menu of appetizers and wine that where served. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration!

pepper crusted seared tuna with wasabi aioli and sesame seed

saffron scented shrimp

fig, prosciutto, arugula crostini

moroccan olive tapenade

smoked apricot chicken skewers

artisan cheese platter

petit tarragon chicken gougers

chimichuri baby Lamb chops

warm hazelnut soup shooters

chocolate fudge brownies

chocolate and vanilla mousse cheesecake

apple struedle

2010 Brooks Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Over the years, the quality of this wine has been growing from strength to strength. I believe the 2010 is the best vintage they have produced. A perfect balance of fruit, structure and acidity. Red fruit, cinnamon, mushroom, sassafras, cedar all wrapped perfectly together in a light, refreshing package. Pretty close to perfection. (Mike Jordan, K&L Wine Merchants)

2009 Cambria “Julia’s Vineyard” Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir

The 2009 Pinot Noir “Julia’s Vineyard” with its light tannins and transparency flows from the glass with layers of sweet candied fruit, raspberries, flowers and spices. The Julia’s is impressive for its expressive varietal character and excellent balance, both quite an achievement for a wine with a 60,000 case production. This was fermented in oak barrels (27% new) and aged on its lees with batonnage for seven months. Anticipated maturity.

2010 Lucien Crochet Sancerre

A classic Sancerre from one of the region’s most esteemed producers, vintage after vintage. This cuvée is made with grapes from the estate’s vineyards in Bué, Vinon and Crézancy. This always deftly expresses Sancerre’s terroir and has textbook mineral and white grapefruit notes on the nose and palate. A great value.

2011 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough

The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc offers intense notes of gooseberries, passion fruit, grapefruit zest and grass with a hint of fresh herbs. Crisp, dry and medium bodied with a good concentration of grapefruit and herb flavors, it gives a long tropical fruit laced finish. Sourced from a combination of estate and grower vineyards Rapaura and Renwick subdistricts of the Wairau Valley (alluvial stony soils) as well as the Fairhall, and Brancott subdistricts (aged alluvial loam and clay soils) and fermented in 100% stainless steel, this is classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at its best: clean, crisp, and refreshing, with a Sancerre-like complexity in the nose and elegant structure. It makes a great partner to oysters in the half shell and would complement the tart, tangy, and herbal flavors and texture of an herbed goat cheese salad.

2009 Barber Cellars ‘Lazarie’ Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc

Always one of our favorite domestic Sauvignon Blancs, this small prodution gem comes from a single block of the sustainably farmed Handley Ranch Vineyard. Sancerre inspired, it showcases California’s 2009 vintage well with sharp acidity and a lean, crisp body. The palate is full of melon, grapefruit, flowers, and green apple with noticeable minerality (both from the Sauvignon Musque vines scattered in the vineyard and the six months the wine spent on the lees). Fermented and aged in stainless steel and bottled unfined, the wine is crisp, dry, and very sharp – perfect for asian cuisine, seafood and anything with spice.

Ariston Aspasie “Carte Blanche” Brut Champagne

Now with the Aspasie label. It is made of 40% chardonnay, 30% pinot noir and 30% meunier. A balanced cuvee in every way, this Champagne is clean and powerful at once. The length of this little bottle of bubbles proves to me the class of its origin, the small commune of Brouillet in Champagne.

That’s a Wrap for Almost Broadway!

May 12, 2012 No comments yet

It was a pleasure serving the cast and crew of Almost Broadway. For three weeks we provided breakfast and lunch to help this creative team shoot what will soon be an awesome movie! Can’t wait to see it! Here are some kind words from the assistant to the producer and director of the film.

“Hey! The lunch we had yesterday was great. Awesome meat. Awesome sauces. Great variety… Thank you so much for your contribution to this film. Without you… Our crew would be skinny and not happy. You really helped us out and we are extremely appreciative.”

The New Girl Q & A

May 8, 2012 No comments yet

The hit show The New Girl had a Q & A this week and FOX invited us to come and pass around some of our delicious appetizers for the fans and cast, including the “adorkable” leading actress Zooey Deschanel. Only in its first season it was great to see how many fans showed up for support and to see how many enjoyed our food. How could you not like our food when served blood orange tarragon chicken on a rice cake or a twice baked red potato stuffed with sour cream, cheddar and turkey bacon. Let’s not forget about our peanut butter bliss bars and strawberries with crème fraiche and brown sugar shooters for dessert. Thanks again for letting us entertain your taste buds!

American Idol DJ Junket at The Crocker Club

May 5, 2012 No comments yet

220px-american_idol_logoThanks again to all our friends at FOX for inviting us to cater everyone for the DJ Junket of American Idol, season 11. The event took place at the Trendy Crocker Club in downtown L.A. which used to be an old bank renovated into a beautiful lounge bar with beautiful classically designed private rooms. Even the vault has been transformed into its own little chill space. Starting the party off with tray passed appetizers a full spread buffet highlighting our amazing braised Shortribs with a cabernet reduction and ending the night with a beautiful display of desserts, including traditional pecan salted turtle brownies, peanut butter marshmallow bars, red velvet whoopee pies, pecan pie and much more. With good spirits and stuffed bellies everyone there left with a smile from ear to ear!

The vault of the Crocker club transformed  into a lounge room.

Great for private parties!

The Ghost Bar, another room also great for private parties or just

to get away from the dance floor, either way pretty chic place to

have a cocktail. It’s like being in a James Bond movie!

These private booths are great for couples yet open so you

can hear the music and still be a part of the atmosphere.

Glee Q & A

May 2, 2012 No comments yet

What a wonderful “Gleetastic” night we had with over 800 fans and the entire cast of Glee for another FOX Q&A at the Academy of Television and Motion Pictures of Arts and Science. With stars like Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer and Matthew Morrison just to name a few, you can imagine the pandemonium from the “Gleekers”. Once the Q&A was let out we filled everyone’s bellies with some of our amazing appetizers. Keeping with the theme of the hit T.V. show we served parmesan breadstyx with a homemade marinara. Since Cheerios is the name of the cheerleading team on Glee we made marshmallow cheerio treats, just like rice krispies but better! We also served grilled vegetable napoleons; mini grilled chicken panini with gruyere and our famously addictive sliders which was literally not just being inhaled by the fans but by the cast as well. As Jane Lynch was leaving she went out of her way to compliment us on how fabulous our food is, can’t get any better than that!

Touch Q & A

We had another great night working with FOX for the Q & A of the new hit show Touch, starring Kiefer Sutherland, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Mazouz. Everyone in attendance enjoyed our wonderful tray passed appetizers. Including spicy tomato soup shooters; grilled chicken and goat cheese sundried tomato pinwheels; grilled vegetable torte bites and porcini dusted beef stix with a mushroom ragu glaze. For all those sweet tooth patrons we had deep dish fudge brownies with a chocolate ganache; peanut butter bliss bars and oreo cheesecake bites. YUM!

American Horror Story Q & A

horror-jpgIt was a “Frightful” evening as the cast of American Horror Story Showed up at the Academy of Television and Motion Pictures of Arts and Science for a Q & A of the past season and what is to come for the second. With stars such as Jessica Lange, Dylan Mcdermott, Ryan Murphy, Zachary Quinto and Connie Britton there was never a dull moment. The festivities began with the cast making their way down the red carpet as all the members enjoyed wonderful bites of chicken pistachio eyeballs (meatballs) sautéed in a pomegranate glaze, blood orange tarragon chicken on top of a brown rice cake and beef chorizo on top of a manchego cheese savory cupcake just to name a few. Ending with a sweet note we served sea salt dusted chocolate dipped pretzels and kiwi cheesecake bites. To add to the theme of horror we passed out the “Killer Cocktail” mixed with Patron’s new vodka Ultimat, making a scary cocktail turn into the most shockingly delicious drink of the evening.
